Friends Who Pass On

There’s probably not one of us in this world that hasn’t had a close friend pass on. My most dear friend Clarence Jones “C. J.” Cansler was one of those quiet, compassionate, yet remarkable, individuals who excelled in everything he touched. C.J. did so many outstanding things in his lifetime. From a high school track star, he went into the U.S. Army as a Ranger. It wasn’t before long that he was known as one of the best sharpshooters in the service. C.J. lived life to the fullest. He played hard, and he worked hard. In his hometown in Alabama, he was a general contractor and later went into electrical contracting.

However, it wasn’t until he moved to Las Vegas that he helped support the career of his wife, Dr. Kathleen Cansler, from her internship on through her establishing a practice. She is one of the finest internist in the valley. They had one daughter, and she is one of the top junior soccer players in Nevada.

During C.J.’s last years, when he was enjoying the fruits of his labor, he became one of the most successful sports photographers in the business. He had that magic of knowing how to take a picture and make it come to life on the pages.

I was honored to know C.J. for about 15 years. He was the kind of person who didn’t have to say a lot; all he needed were a few words to make his point.

And so, in remembering our friends, we can recall their important life’s highlights. C.J.’s were his pictures through boxing events, Ultimate Fighting Challenge and celebrity photo shoots. But most importantly, C.J. was such a giving person. He was known among his peers as one of the top professional instructors of photography at Community College of Southern Nevada. He was also a very charitable person and helped during holidays deliver bags of toys to less fortunate children.

One of the things I’ll remember most about him is that he listened to people’s problems. I know; I was one of those he advised on a personal basis. The truth is, if C.J. were here today, he would say that there are no shortcuts in life; that you have to work hard to reap the benefits, and most important, something he often said: “One good deed deserves another, but one bad act can bring another one your way.”

A picture is worth a thousand words, and C.J. Canslers’ photos will inspire comments for years to come.

Scenic San Diego

More than ever, people are making time to take four to seven day cruises. Cruising is a part of life that no one should let slip by. There are also dining cruises, such as the San Diego Harbor cruises for couples, singles and families when they can only take a few hours out for a day or evening outing. The setting for these cruise are spectacular, especially that of the skyline of San Diego. This is one of the most breathtaking dinner cruises I’ve ever experienced. San Diego Harbor Excursions have been serving the area since 1915. The staff and service is dependable and friendly, plus they have six ships serving the San Diego Bay. The Spirit of San Diego, the ship I was on, holds about 250 people, and they offer a variety of cruise packages from $37.50 for children 4-12, up to $62.50 per adult. This includes a dinner menu selection of entrees, such as Iron Steak, Grilled Tenderloins, Herb Grilled Chicken, Dungeness Crab Stuffed in Pacific Snapper. They do offer vegetarian dishes. Also, they offer complimentary champagne.

For a breathtaking view of the Skyline of San Diego, including its naval shipyards. I highly recommend taking some leisure time to experience San Diego Harbor Excursions or consider holding your special events, weddings, graduations and other occasions aboard. As the company and others say, it’s “an unforgettable dining experience on San Diego Bay.”

Luna Rosa for Romantic Dining or Family Outing

Just one half hour from Las Vegas, where romantics and families love to dine, visit the traditional yet contemporary setting of the Luna Rosa Ristorante, located in the MonteLago Village overlooking Lake Las Vegas.

Luna Rosa is, of course, a smoke-free environment and features authentic dishes from all regions of Italy. There are options for dining in a private, draped, enclosed room, the main dining room or on the patio. The décor is very subdued in moderate beige tones with amber accents.

If you are really hungry and looking to sample many of the fine dishes at Luna Rosa, start with a bowl of Lentil Split Pea Soup. Wow, it hits the spot. Then, you might as well order an antipasto salad. But whatever you do, don’t eat too much of bread, or you’ll be too full to enjoy the best yet to come.

The main entrée served for our dining party started with the Chilean Sea Bass with Sautéed Vegetables. This particular dish is not too spicy, on the light side.

For those who enjoy meat, try the New York Steak served on a bed of arugula accompanied by roasted potatoes in a red wine sauce with garlic and rosemary sauce. Another popular entrée is the Salmone a la Aceto Balsamico, which is the grilled salmon on a bed of arugula with an 8-year-old balsamic vinegar reduction sauce, served with mixed vegetables.

Regardless of whether it’s pasta, beef, veal or fish, Luna Rosa is your destination for a romantic evening of dining or for a wonderful family outing. The staff’s demeanor is warm and attentive, so even the traveler or local who dines alone would feel welcome.

Call (702) 568-9921 for reservations or information. CSN rates Luna Rosa a 9.

Top Rank Boxing at Planet Hollywood

Even for two fighters each set to take the other out, Ricardo Torres of South America and Kendall Holt of the USA showed respect for each other as they fielded pre-fight questions from the press in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood…

Ricardo Torres (32-1-28 KOs) of Barranquilla, Columbia, is defending his WBO Junior Welterweight Champion title against Kendall Holt (23-2-12 KOs) of Patterson, N.J. on July 5 at Planet Hollywood’s Theater of the Performing Arts.

The last fight between Torres and Holt was tough. Holt was ahead in the earlier card, knocking down Torres with a left-right combination in the sixth round. Torres got up, and continued fighting but wasn’t ahead on the scorecards from the sixth to the ninth rounds. In the 10th, he scored a winning round, and in the 11th executed a left hook that sent Holt to the mat.

Holt got up, but Torres delivered a combination of punches that had the referee stop the fight in 2:24 of the 11th round. Anything can happen in the sport of boxing. Torres and Holt are two tough fighters and will be in a definite war that will have fans on the edges of their seats.

In a pre-fight press conference at Planet Hollywood, both fighters displayed excellent sportsmanship. Torres respects Holt.

“He’s a tough fighter. The last fight he definitely hurt me in the sixth. He caught me real well, but I got up and fought,” Torres said, adding, “I knew I was behind on the scorecard, so I went for the knockout.”

Torres says that this fight will be a much better fight.

Holt said that he’s in better shape and will be pushing the fight.

“July Fourth will be a big bang in Las Vegas, but on July 5, I’m taking the title home with me.”

Also included on the fight card is a special 10-round Junior Welterweight attraction between Lamont Peterson (24-0-11 KOs) of Washington, D.C., takes on Rogelio Castaneda (24-13-3-8 KOs) of Tijuana , Mexico.

Small Town Kid Turns Nutrition Entrepreneur

After years of meat and potatoes and eating the average American diet, Ron McCormick found out a better way of eating for better health, nutrition and wellness. Now based in Las Vegas, Nev., he produces Pureform Labs products and teaches nutrition to celebrity sports figures, retail customers, this commentator and others….

Ron McCormick works with several top athletes, actors and other celebrities to help them manage their diets. Among them are Jerome Williams and Shawn Higgins, two retired NBA players; Dewey Cooper, a world kickboxing champion and Mixed Martial Arts fighter; boxing champions Bernard Hopkins and Winky Wright; Jessica “The Ragin’” Rakoczy, a six-time world boxing champion, and adult-film actor Peter North. McCormick even got this commentator on the right track to better fitness—and I can see and feel the difference already.

When Ron got into the nutrition business, he realized that many products sold into certain food stores were harmful to the body. Many of the items sold were high in acid, such as milk, red meats, shellfish, soft drinks, beer and sugars, just to name some.

He realized that he needed to do more research, and he took classes online in addition to training with leading professionals in the field. With the available information he needed, he proceeded to develop high-quality, all-natural, nutritional supplements.

After years of research and studying the American way of eating, McCormick states: “Most people don’t take the time to feed their body nutritious foods. That’s why I developed my own health products that will enable a person to be nutrient rich in the prevention of disease by keeping their body in an alkaline state.”

What he means by that statement is that a body needs to have a proper pH balance. When the human body is at a 7.5 (on the standard pH scale range of 0 -14; 14 being alkaline and 7 is neutral) it is much harder for diseases to start and develop. When the body is acid, this is where diseases tend to manifest and grow, according to what I am learning from McCormick.

McCormick says that we can measure our pH regularly with specially coated paper test strips that register the degree of acidity or alkaline state of the user. He is glad to discuss this with prospective customers and clients.

What I’ve also learned is that I was in the habit of eating too late in the day, eating too many carbohydrates, drinking way too many juices with fructose that turns into sugars and cause fat. I was tired all the time, until I changed my way of eating.

By changing my diet, I’ve lost 20 pounds in the past thirty days. Now you may ask how I did that. First, I stayed away from all carbohydrates; I didn’t eat any breads, and dairy products.

What I did eat was food with good fiber content, such as oatmeal. And I regularly take my liquid vitamins, which are made by Purelabs, McCormick’s company.

I am using Power Greens, too. One Power Greens scoop is nutritionally equivalent to 26 plates of raw uncooked vegetables. I work out five days a week on the treadmill, and I take my supplements combined with egg whites, goat cheese and a cup of oatmeal. (It’s not bad at all.)

In between times, I use the Chocolate Whey Powder for protein to give me more energy. And during lunch, I have a salad with either tuna or salmon.

For dinner, I eat steamed vegetables with a sweet potato, for example. Because I have a sweet tooth, I’m using the natural supplement called Stevia instead of sugar and honey.

Ron said that people don’t have to stop cold turkey on the things they are eating.

“You make changes slowly over to healthier choices; then, you don’t have to crave bad foods.”

I asked him other relevant questions and found out about his journey to becoming a nutrition and fitness advisor.

Q. What was your dream or ambition when you were a kid growing up?

RM: Like most kids, I was an athlete. I played football and basketball. At that time, my goal was to be a professional athlete.

Q: Living on a ranch, did you ever feel like you were out of pocket as a kid, while you were attending high school?

RM: I was an athlete and we were always kept busy. At nine years old, I had my first weight training bench, so I was around a lot of positive people who were in sports and I competed.

Q: When did you first think about the world of business?

RM: My family owned a chain of gas stations and truck stops. So, I learned responsibility at ten years old, and I learned all facets of the business.

Q: During your time growing up, it was a different time — fast foods weren’t as prevalent. What are your thought about that?

RM: We were more active in the ’70s and ’80s. We didn’t really have time to go out and eat a lot of junk food. I wasn’t raised that way. In fact, my parents taught me what they — and what I — thought was healthy eating: meat and potatoes, milk. Later, I learned it wasn’t all true.

Q: Why is so hard for Americans to get on track with nutrition and exercise?

RM: We’re not taught properly in the U.S. schools. Some of the schools have physical education programs, which are great for exercise. But the bigger part of this is the U.S. diet. I found out later in life, after I went into the nutrition business, that just about all your fast foods are bad.

Q: How has the business of developing health products helped you personally?

RM: It helped me develop into a person with compassion for people in this country who suffer from unnecessary diseases: cancer, diabetes, MS, lupus, Crohn’s, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. Sixty-percent of all these diseases and disorders are all due to the poor diet and nutritional imbalance in our diet. The No. 1 killer in the U.S. is heart disease, which kills 20,000 Americans a day; 1.4 million Americans develop different types of cancer; another 1 million develop diabetes every year. Children as young as 11 years old are developing diabetes, and there are over 25 million children and adults living with diabetes today.

Ron McCormick is available for lectures. For more information, or to make an appointment for counseling, call toll-free 1-888-363-9817. His store is located in Henderson, Nev., at 2558 Wigwam Pkwy in the Legacy Center. His website is www.Pureformlabs.com.

New Year’s at The Nightclub XS at Encore

Name one great way to celebrate on New Year’s Eve. There are lots of great answers, but I chose to spend it with friends and fun-loving celebrities at XS, one of the best ultra high-tech nightclubs, located in Encore, one of the most elegant resorts on the Las Vegas Strip…

In bringing in the New Year, what could be better than celebrating with celebrities and friends at Steve Wynn’s and Victor Dre’s XS, the new ultra-nightclub at the newly opened Encore on the Las Vegas Strip.

My guests included David Darkstone, billed as Latin America’s top illusionist; legendary soul artist Sidney Barnes and his wife, Clella Ann Zavada; producer-director Frank Pinnock, and my friend Beryl Warren.

Around nine o’clock, when I met up with PR Director Jeremy Pond, there were already about 300 people waiting to get into XS. There were lots of locals, several Las Vegas resident celebrities and plenty of visitors who know that Las Vegas is the town to party in the new year. In fact, the entire club at XS was sold out, including the $1,500 poolside day bed parties to the $5,000 some guests paid for booths and cabanas.

In Las Vegas, ultra-style clubs are plentiful, but none has the unique features we saw at XS. The nightclub is built in semicircular fashion and has multiple levels, theater style. The dance floor overlooks the pool area, which is surrounded by cabanas located on the bottom and upper levels. In addition, there is a unique feature in the huge pool area. The XS design has a gaming island towards the end of the pool, and it is a built-in, open-sided platform.

By the way, on Jan 5, XS will host a list of invited guests for their special celebrity grand opening. New Year’s Eve was opening night for XS, following the recent grand opening of Encore. To get more information, call The Nightclub XS at Encore, (702) 770-0097.

Among the celebrities invited to attend the special XS grand opening are: actors Blair Underwood, Alan Thicke, Antonio Fargas, Tom Hallick, Eddie Mekka and Patrick Kilpatrick; recording artists George Clinton and Sidney Barnes, along with musical family patriarch Joe Jackson; impressionist and singer Larry G. Jones; hypnotist Michael Johns and Terry Stokes; and illusionists Cris Angel, David Darkstone and Dixie Dooley.

While there, some of my guests and I took celebrity publicity shots with XS managing partner Cye Waits, former UFC champion Tito Ortiz, who was with his adult film star wife Jenna Jameson, and Olympic snow board champion Sean White.

I was impressed with XS from the beginning. Jeremy escorted my group through the impressive entryway made of contemporary metallic, gold-tone framework surrounding a revolving door and swivel glass doorways. It was a visually impressive entrance to what is considered the most elegant, ultra-high-tech club. It was done, of course, the ultimate Wynn way.

The club experience and the ambiance of Encore reflect the philosophy of the gaming property mogul Wynn, who built the mega-resorts Mirage, Treasure Island and Wynn Las Vegas, the self-named property built to honor his wife.

Spending the evening at Encore was enjoyable. My guests commented on the XS ultra nightclub experience.

“It’s an awesome club. I’ve never seen anything like it,” said Sidney Barnes, veteran recording artist and songwriter with hits on P-Funk and Chess Records labels, and leader of the ’70s hit group Rotary Connection, featuring the legendary songbird Minnie Ripperton.

“This is the new era of high-tech clubs,” David Darkstone said.

Early in the evening, before it got too late, I called to wish some friends Happy New Year. One of them was Frankie Scinta, who was spending the evening with his family. He is lead performer with The Scintas, a multitalented family that performs songs, dance, impressions, comedy improvisations and more at the Hilton. I asked him what he thought of Encore.

“The resort is beautiful. Steve Wynn is a guy who sets the pace of what Las Vegas is all about. He’s always built it bigger and better,” Frankie said.

By the way, the Scinta’s are ending their long-running engagement in their showroom at the Hilton in mid March to pursue their scripted, reality-TV sitcom. They are working with independent film channel Sundance, and the planned show is called “Scinta’s Surviving the Strip.”

I wish them and all my celebrity friends the very best of success on their projects in 2009!

And to readers, subscribers and the online and print publishers who carry Celebrity Scene News, thanks for everything you did to make 2008 great, and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you!

Marie Osmond Interview with Pete Allman

Pete Allman interviews Marie Osmond at NATPE

Tony Cosmo is Bringing “Old Vegas” Back

Just about everyone loves movies, especially mobster themes, such as “Goodfellows” and “The Godfather” series. Las Vegas has been depicted in many movies, but few showed the true atmosphere of the good old days. Las Vegas in the 60s and 70s was run by the mob, those colorful characters, and they kept the town pretty safe — unless you tried to cross them, that is. There was little crime, and the casino workers felt they were treated right.

And everyone loved to go to Tony Cosmo’s restaurants to socialize and have homemade Italian cuisine, such as Veal Scaloppini, Stuffed Bell Peppers, and even the spumoni, which was homemade.

Well, last week, I visited with restaurateur Tony Cosmos, the executive chef and owner of Cosmos Ristorante located inside the Royal Resort right off the Las Vegas Strip at 99 Convention Center Drive.
Besides cooking what is perhaps the best Italian food I’ve ever tasted, Tony Cosmo has had an illustrious career. He has owned several restaurants, among them the former disco-era hotspot, Paul Anka’s Jubilation, and Cosmos Underground in downtown Las Vegas.

In fact, Tony could write a book on all the colorful characters who dined in his restaurants over the years. Hey, that’s a great idea, especially since he’s got all the pictures to prove it. The others might have carried “heat,” but Tony carried a mean skillet, pot and chef’s pan and served some of the best food in town. Tony’s places were where people hung out in the great heyday of Vegas.

So what happened to the Old Las Vegas?

Well, some of those mob guys are pushing up daisies, some are in prison, and some are under the Witness Protection Program. Tony is just a great chef who keeps on going.

So, it is with great pleasure that Tony is bringing back the “Old Vegas” flavor.

Tony is planning to have a late-night, after hours gathering spot for those people who get off work in the wee hours of the morning and want to stop by his place and unwind in the outside lounge area.

They can get some of his great Chicago beef sandwiches, enjoy a drink outdoors and stretch out under the shining stars of Las Vegas, while lounging beside the Royal Resort’s Olympic-size pool.
The best part of what Tony is doing is that no one will have to wait in line, and his guests won’t have to buy a table or bottle service, the way it works in the swanky ultra lounges and nightclubs in many Strip resorts. This atmosphere is for late night relaxing and getting together with friends. Tony Cosmo is making the old new again.

For more information, call (702) 369-4179 or visit www.cosmosristorante.com. Tell them Pete Allman sent you.

Michael Jackson Fans Speak Out, with Pete Allman

Following the death of the King of Pop, Pete Allman interviews Michael Jackson’s fans outside the Jackson family’s estate

Fond Memories and Farewells

Special Tribute Update: After posting this memorial Tribute to many of this summer’s celebrity passings, a longtime close acquaintance and friend to many writers suddenly passed.

Marleen Marino, publisher and founder of VegasCommunityOnline passed just recently. So, I celebrate her work and support for me and others on VCO. I never thought her name would bein this story, which she also posted on VCO on my Celebrity Scene News column. She will be missed. –Pete Allman

This has been a summer of celebrity losses like none I can remember. It has been sad, heartbreaking and shocking to see so many familiar faces and voices leave us. Many of those who have passed on had roots in Las Vegas. Some of them performed here, lived here, regularly visited here or even have family members here, but no doubt that all of them are survived by countless fans in Las Vegas.

The shocking death of Michael Jackson was worldwide news, and that fan loyalty will continue for a long time; perhaps, it will never die. In Las Vegas, there are many friends and family members who loved Michael, among them, Joe Jackson, the patriarch of the Jackson family dynasty and someone I’ve known a long time and spent time with over the years.

I wish Joe and the family well. I was around for some of the memorial events. Sad, truly sad. Who would have ever though Michael’s phenomenal talent would be gone so suddenly?

And there were many other celebrities who were added to the list of our beloved favorites who have passed on recently and were mourned by many in Las Vegas. Among them were:

–Farrah Fawcett

–Walter Cronkite

–Gale Storm

–Karl Malden

–David Carradine

–Ed McMahon

–Steve McNair

–Koko Taylor

–Fred Travalena

–Billy Mays

and Gidget, the star Chihuahua

In the stunning news coverage of Michael’s passing, several of the other deaths could not receive as much airtime and print space as they otherwise would have, so I want to remember them for their accomplishments. They each brought a special talent to the celebrity scene.

The iconic, brave, well-tressed actress Farrah Fawcett of “Charlie’s Angels,” veteran funny girl Gale Storm of “My Little Margie” and other screen productions, and the super-solid newsman Walter Cronkite, were familiar to nearly all of us who spent time watching television during the last century. I can’t say with certainty that the journalist spent any significant time in our city, but he undoubtedly reported on the events at the very foundation of Old Vegas all the way through its explosive growth.

All of the stars and celebs mentioned before are known for being in the traditional star-making industries, but what is notable about Billy Mays’ inclusion on that list is that he was not a singer, dancer, film star, news anchor, sports figure or any of the other ‘usual’ celebrities.

Mays, who delighted countless people with his sales ability, only recently became a TV screen celebrity in the reality TV show tradition as co-star of the insightful show focused on the professional “pitch men” selling products around the clock on infomercials and at public events. But that TV show was not what made him famous: it was his distinctive voice and charisma and sense of pitch-perfect timing. He was the ultimate pitch man! He will be missed.

One of my associates, Alex Ayzin, is a California-based business broker who met Billy Mays and became friends after they encountered each other several times at tradeshows and seminars. I was to meet Mays in person, and I am saddened by his passing. I’m sure that there will be others in the profession who will do amazingly well, but I wonder if any of them will become as huge in the ranks of celebrities as Mays did.

In the field of covering stars and famous people, it is both amazing and touching to see how many lives are deeply influenced because of the spirit and style of those who gained the status of “celebrity.” They gave us much, and we remember them fondly—even down to the smallest, the four-legged “Taco Bell star,” Gidget.

So in closing, keep your visions positive, keep positive people around you, and know that God is there for you.

Tony Tarantino Is On the Move By Pete Allman

It looks as though the Tarantino’s are keeping Hollywood busy. Quentin Tarantino with his latest hit Inglourious Basterds and Tony Tarantino with ‘ Tra Gli Ulivi’ [Between the Olive Trees’] to be filmed in Italy in February 2010.Quentin Tarantino in November received The Kirk Douglas Lifetime Achievement

Award from Kirk Douglas at the Santa Barbara Film Festival dinner. Tony Tarantino received the ”Comune Di Napoli” [Commune of Naples] and named Italy’s Ambassador of Naples to the United States. Tony who was conducting workshops at Rome’s Cinecitta [Italy’s largest film studio] is working with Ennio Pontes on Between the Olive Trees. But Tony Tarantino is quick to admit that directing and producing is no gravy train.” You’ve got to be quick witted in this business and never underestimate anything”.

Tony is one busy man, but he is also no stranger to Las Vegas! While visiting Vegas he was at the grand opening of The Golden Nugget Rush Tower. He and the CEO of The Golden Nugget (Tilman Fertitta) had discussed the possibilities of filming at the hotel and its surrounding areas. Tarantino has also shook hands with Mayor Oscar Goodman. And speaking of Oscar Goodman…Tarantino would love for him to be in his next film,” New Horizons”, which he hopes to film in Las Vegas! Hopefully, Vegas will be fortunate enough to have Mr. Tarantino grace her sparkling city of lights with his presence.

Tony Tarantino and Miss Nevada USA 2010 Julianna Erdesz at the Golden Nugget Rush Tower Grand Opening on Nov. 23, 2009.

Tarantino was born in Queens, New York on July 4th to Dominic Tarantino, a successful film actor in the silent film era. Tony grew up in Queens, New York in a tough neigborhood. Nothing was handed to him. He had to work for what he wanted. Later on, when his family moved to California he attended the Pasadena Playhouse and honored his craft as an actor, later becoming a director and producer.

Tarantino’s credits include: Blood Money, Holy Hollywood, All the Rage, and Family Tree, among a host of others. His true love however is directing and producing films. ”Prism”- Tarantino’s newest film project- is a blending of fact and fiction into a journey of intrigue, love, betrayal and tragedy. It
is a present day police thriller set on the Arizona- Mexican border. “Death Keeps Coming”, another film set in the 1880’s, is a western with a super
natural twist .It will star Martin Kove [formerly of Karate Kid]. Tarantino’s next film, “The Keeper”, is a true story of Richard Trudge, born into slavery in 1842, who rises to national heroism during a time of racial prejudice and discrimination in America. These are the films set to go into production late 2010.
Each Tarantino is of his own mindset. In a time where movies are in more demand, Quentin Tarantino and Tony Tarantino will continue to be part of that history.

Terry Fator – A Man of His Own Virtue By Pete Allman

Although Terry Fator captured the hearts (and funny bones) of America when he was selected as the top act on season two of America’s Got Talent, he’s remained humble and kind to everyone he meets.

His sold out shows at The Mirage, which have brought the gift of laughter to thousands, have set a new trend in entertainment for Las Vegas – a city that has long been considered the live entertainment capital of the world. Fator performs new impressions, new celebrity voices and has a wonderful array of puppets each night in the Terry Fator Theatre.

Fator was bitten by the entertainment bug when he was no bigger than his puppets, right around the age of 10.

Terry refers to those early years: “When I was little I would go to church with my parents and see a ventriloquist perform. I found it so fascinating that I went to the library to pick up a book and learn about it. From that moment I was hooked and always visualized myself as a ventriloquist.”

Fator says he found he had the ability to impersonate singers by practicing ventriloquism while driving his car.
“One of the reasons I learned how to sing as a ventriloquist was because I like singing in the car,” Fator says. “I’d see other people singing in the car, and they looked goofy, so I’d do it without moving my lips.”

Fator worked on his craft to perfect his delivery and also added a little touch of comedy to his routine, making him one of the most dynamic entertainers in his field. An expert in mimicking celebrity voices, he brings to life his puppet co-stars, including the adorable Emma Taylor and the newest member of his puppet family, Vikki the Cougar. His show also includes performances by musical stars Cher, Justin Timberlake, Garth Brooks, Elvis Presley and The Pussycat Dolls.

So, how does Terry Fator keep his life on an even keel with being the hottest show on the Las Vegas Strip?

“It goes back to my parents,” he says, “and the values they instilled in me. They taught me that hard work pays off and that belief in yourself and dedication to what you envision are necessary to achieve your goals.”

Recently, Terry attended the Iraq Star Fundraiser at Universal Studios in Los Angeles, California. Fator paid tribute to American troops and co-hosted with Dr. Phil McGraw, who led the night away with a silent auction for all those in attendance.
Terry is the kind of individual who exemplifies character. He displays that during each one of his shows, being sure to give a special shout out to all US service men and women stationed at home or overseas.

What’s more heartwarming is Terry’s profound respect for the handicapped and the elderly. After every show, he invites them to the front of the meet-and-greet line and signs their autographs first and doesn’t quit until he’s shaken hands with everyone. In fact, it’s not uncommon to see him sign autographs for nearly an hour.

Terry Fator performs center stage with a live seventeen-piece band nightly at 7:30pm in the Terry Fator Theatre at The Mirage (dark Sunday and Monday). There’s nothing quite like Terry Fator & His Cast of Thousands. It’s the next generation of entertainment.
